Undue exposure to the sun's rays can actually compound an oily skin problem. When the skin is deprived of much needed hydration, the sebaceous glands may go into overdrive to compensate for the lost hydration. In addition, sun damaged skin may not exfoliate properly resulting in dead skin cells forming plugs that block the skin's pores. This promotes the growth of the P. acnes bacteria inside the blocked pore causing acne and irritation.

Irritation stimulates oil production, redness and swelling – the exact opposite of what is needed. To view a list of harmful ingredients found in skin care products, click here.
